Kia ora e te whānau!
At the beginning of November we had our facilitators hui. During the exploration phase of the co-design project we heard from the rangatahi about their desire for opportunities to learn about and experience different aspects of health and wellbeing. The facilitators hui responds to these needs by strengthening connections between health providers and supporting the upcoming 12-week programme which will be delivered in March-April in 2025. You can read more about the ideas for the 12-week programme and referral system here.
The facilitators hui was an opportunity to bring health providers and promoters, researchers and people with lived experience of psychosis together to share experiences and general whakawhanaungatanga (relationship building) over kai.
The hui was hosted by Studio C in a beautiful pocket of native bush in Silverstream, Upper Hutt. Thank you Studio C and we are looking forward to more of your creative energy and insights going forward!

The facilitators hui rōpū (group) found the day very valuable and it sparked a lot of excitement for the mahi to come. When the rōpū was asked “what’s next?” many responded with “more of this!”. Having a connected team with a shared vision is key to being able to deliver the 12-week programme effectively in 2025.
Stay tuned for a more in-depth report of the facilitators hui, which is being produced by Josie Verhaaren. Josie is joining the research team as a summer student, supported by the Maurice and Phyllis Paykel Trust. Haere mai Josie, we look forward to having you on the team and know you will bring a fresh perspective and important skills to the table!
That’s all for now whānau but we will have more updates to come in the next few months.
Mā te wā.
